Day 1 – Colombo Layover and Expenses
I landed at Colombo Airport for a layover. After obtaining a transit visa, the first thing I did was exchange some money for the local currency. Colombo city was 35 kilometers away, and I decided to find an affordable way to get there. That’s when I met Alex from France, who also had a layover in Colombo. We decided to explore the city together.
We took a local bus that cost 300 LKR. After about an hour, we reached the city. Once there, I had some snacks for 100 LKR. We explored various attractions in the city for free and later enjoyed bread and ice cream at a seaside shop, which cost 200 LKR.
After several hours of exploring, we took an auto back to the city for 200 LKR. I then had a proper meal that cost 520 LKR. I also spent 40 LKR using a public restroom. Before heading back to the airport, I packed some food for 170 LKR. The bus ride back to the airport cost 320 LKR.
Later in the evening, we ventured out again and spent around 790 LKR on miscellaneous activities.
Total Expenses:
- Bus fare (to the city): 300 LKR
- Snacks: 100 LKR
- Bread and ice cream: 200 LKR
- Auto fare: 200 LKR
